Forming a Non Profit Organization in Oregon

There are several procedures for forming a non profit organization in Oregon, including:

Choosing a Name - The name you choose must be distinguishable from any other registered Oregon business name and must contain the term “Corporation”, “Incorporation”, “Limited” or its abbreviation.

Writing Articles of Incorporation - The articles of incorporation must state that the organization is a Type B corporation. This is critical to starting the tax-exempt procedure with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The document must also include the approved name, its purpose, the name and address of the initial incorporator(s) and the name address of the registered agent. The next step is submitting articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State and paying an initial filing fee of $100.
